Nearly 11 years ago, LPGA golfer Cathy Johnston-Forbes loaned her name and celebrity to the organization's first golf outing in the Wilmington area. The tournament has grown each year, rapidly becoming one of the most exclusive tournaments in eastern North Carolina. In 2006, the tournament reached a maximum capacity of 36 teams and was forced to turn away interested teams.
This year, we celebrate the eleventh anniversary of our Cathy
Johnston-Forbes golf tournament - the largest fundraising event in
the Eastern region. Last year, the tournament raised a record
$30,000 to help local children and adults. We need your help to make
this event a success again in 2010! The event will be held September
24, 2010 at the famed River Landing course in Wallace, N.C.
Where the money goes:
Easter Seals UCP's programs in eastern North Carolina which include preschool, developmental education and therapy, residential services, supported employment and training, respite care, foster care services and family support.
Teams and individuals wishing to compete in the tournament register via invitational brochure or
call Easter Seals UCP at (910) 790-5921. Teams play 18 holes at the famous River Landing Golf Club and compete for prizes while learning more about the mission and services of Easter Seals UCP. Corporate sponsors may choose to sponsor tees on the course, carts, refreshment tents, or teams.
Easter Seals UCP North Carolina, Inc. is a private, non-profit statewide health agency whose mission is to create opportunities, promote individual choice and change the lives of children and adults with disabilities by maximizing their individual potential for living, learning and working in their communities. All donations to Easter Seals UCP are tax-deductible. Sponsors who choose to play a team in the tournament may not be able to deduct the full amount of their sponsorship.
The deadline for sponsor inclusion in invitational brochure is
September 14th, 2010.

The goal of the Cathy Johnston-Forbes Tournament is to spend as few dollars as possible on expenses. When you give to Easter Seals UCP North Carolina, more than $0.91 of every dollar is used to provide direct services for children and adults with disabilities. Expenses are kept to a minimum and include green and cart fees, player gifts and printing costs.
The programs that receive assistance from the tournament proceeds include our five star child development center, developmental education and therapy, residential services, supported employment & training, respite care, foster care services and family support.
If you'd like to learn more about our programs and services, please don't hesitate to contact
the Special Events Manager, at (910) 790-5921. We are always thrilled to have the opportunity to take visitors on tours of our program facilities and to share stories about the many wonderful things happening at Easter Seals UCP every day!
